Within the MPA are various classes of membership: County and Individual.

Within the classes of membership are the categories of Active, Associate, and Inactive. The following descriptions describe the characteristics of each class and category:

MEMBERSHIP CLASSES

County:    County memberships will be granted to those county groups requesting membership after meeting certain requirements (interested groups should email for specifics).

Individual:    An individual may join the MPA as an “At Large” member only when no MPA recognized group exists within the county in question. Any person wishing to join the MPA from a county with a recognized group must join that group and be in good standing prior to MPA membership. Further, while classified as “At Large”, MPA members fall under the authority of the MPA Leader and may be assigned to the various groups at his or her convenience. If such time occurs when a county group is formed within the county where the ‘At Large” member resides, that member or members will be immediately placed under the authority of the recognized county or group.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Active:    An individual is considered to be an active member of the MPA once the person certifies Level 1 or 2 or completes MPA ‘basic training’. Certain persons may have these requirements waived based upon their background, veteran status, and experience either within the US military or other organization providing tactical field training. However, possession of a military background does not, in and of itself, waive a person from completing basic training requirements. Rather, the character of service, i.e., infantry or other field related training and expertise is what brings merit to the waiver.

Associate:    Associate membership is offered to all those who cannot physically train in the field or command a group due to medical, proximity, or other reasons. They may attend training and learn from various lectures, demonstrations and exercises, as well as participate in marksmanship or other “hands on” training, but do not have any voting rights or other standing within the MPA to speak on any issue brought before the general membership. Any associate member wishing to bring an issue to the MPA Leadership Council may only bring that issue to the affected County Leader.

Inactive:    All active and associate members who either by statement or lack of attendance (not seen at any function within 6 months) will be moved to the inactive rolls of the MPA (notwithstanding any County rolls). If such time occurs that the inactive member resumes attendance at MPA functions, he or she will be required to demonstrate Basic Training Marksmanship, the Physical Fitness Assessment, and gear possession prior to reinstatement as an active member. This is to ensure that the member seeking reactivation does not slow down the scheduled activities due to needing “re-teaching” of any area trained in.

Membership Exclusions: Simply, any application for membership from a person or group practicing an/or affiliated with any organization that can be construed by their own writings, documents, statements or practices to be harmful to the Constitution of these United States or any person, place or entity under its jurisdiction, or against the Michigan state Constitution, any person, place or entity under its jurisdiction, will be denied. Examples of such groups include, but are not limited to: Marxists, Globalists, Communists, Fascists, Nazis, Earth Liberation Front, PETA, etc.
